Deconstruction of the conjuring

In this shot we can see the demon jumping from the wardrobe. This makes the audience feel scared as they empathize with the person that is having the demon with them. They often move without warning to scare the audience and put them on edge as they don’t know what’s going to happen next.

The demon here is in the same nightgown but has changed what they are. Shape shifting is common; you still recognize the being as the same demon but as a different form. The demon and how it looks contrasts with the little girl as children are thought to be sweet and innocent; the demon is the exact opposite of this. The purpose of this is to challenge the audience’s initial thoughts. The demon also moved without seeming like it had. The purpose of this is to give an unnatural not normal feeling to the film.

Demons are often represented as being shape-shifters originally the demon from the conjuring originally the demon is this young girl. She moves slowly which makes the audience aware that she is not quite human. The audience first thing that she is a ghost because of her pale appearance, she also looks like she is from a different time as she is wearing a long sleeved nightgown which goes up to her neck. This is almost Victorian.

Overall this demon is quite effective because they are not very well lit which means that there is still a aspect of mystery to it and it means that you cannot see  it as well so you cannot tell how human or demonic it is.
