Typography: Supernatural Horror

The title of the film is predominantly red (with some smaller red text above and below it.) The colour red is linked to evil and blood, which are ideas that link directly to the films genre. It also allows the film name 'Insidious' to stand out against the black and white surroundings. The text is blurred almost like it has been scratched or has blood splatters, linking to the supernatural horror genre. The 'i's within the title of the film look like crosses, linking to the religious elements of the film, as all supernatural horrors hold links too. The fact the text is placed in the bottom right-hand corner allows the main image of the villain to be clearly seen.

The colour of the title is white, meaning it can be clearly seen against the darker colours in the background. It links to picture behind as the girl being dragged into the fire is a direct representation of what the film title is saying. The font is in capitals to stand out more and is the largest piece of text on the page, compared to the smaller yellow text underneath, as this allows the audiences attention to be drawn to the title straight away. The text is in the centre at the bottom, directly below the main image that will gain the audience's first focus.

'The exorcism' is the largest part of the title, instantly the audience will know the subject of the film.  The main title is in red, which is the brightest colour on poster, capturing the audiences attention. It is in a large clear font, and capitals have been used for emphasis. The text above and below the title is the same colour of the background, and is much smaller, so less attention is payed to it especially at first glance. The text is in the centre at the top, which is a clear focus point and can easily be seen.

The title and other text are in a dark brown colour, in a clear and simplistic font. The title fits in to the overall colour scheme which is white and brown, compared to the other titles which have been in brighter colours. The two words  'Cabin' and 'Woods' are bigger than the rest of the title as it gives the audience clues and a general idea as to what the film will be about. The text is next to the big image on the left where attention will instantly be drawn, so it is a fairly central focal point.

The title is in capital letters used for emphasis. The black colour of the text stands out against the dirty white wall behind. It will have more attention drawn to it than the smaller white text above it does. The title links with the image of the villain below, as the letters in the title look as though they are 'dripping' down to the image underneath. The title is placed in the centre top, above the black image of the villain, being part of the central focal point for the audience.

The title is down the right hand side, meaning the image takes up most of the room and therefore most of the focus. The title is in white (like the eyes of the character in the image) stands out against the black and red background. The use of a backward 'd' is un-natural and twisted, which is un-nerving for the audience already. The scratches around the text add to this, and also link to the supernatural horror genre.

All of the films featured above share the use of oldschool gothic font. The traditional use of red, black and white within horror movies is a classic trait, and has evolved to include colours such as greens and blues. This links to more clinical horror, introduced by popular movies such as Saw. The gothic writing it pointy and classic, yet it is ofter manipulated to be slightly updated or change to suit the film better.

The bright red of the title stands out against the dark green, black and white background. The red also links with the red battery sign and recording sign, which gives the audience clues to what the film may feature. The use of capital letters, just as in all the other film titles, is for emphasis and clarity. The blurred letters are similar to that of video footage, with the blurring like when a recording flickers. The title is the largest bit of text at the bottom centre, which links well to the image above (the word 'grave' links to the ghostly figure.)

The title is red (again symbolising blood, evil and anger) against the black and white colour schemed surroundings. The text is smudged/ blurred, making it look like the type of text you would get on a technical device e.g video camera, linking to the plot. The colour and the fact it is in capital letters whilst being the biggest section of text on the page gains immediate attention. The placement of it at the bottom allows it to briefly explain and link to the image that it is underneath. The title is also an 'answer' to the question above 'What happens when you sleep? Paranormal Activity'. The title links directly to the supernatural horror genre.
